Mandatory Registration for Short-term Rental Units in Toronto

If you're in the City of Toronto and run an Airbnb or other short term rental, you will be required to officially register it with the City in order continue operating.

Enrollment in the online registration system will be mandatory for all short-term rental operators who are renting their homes for periods of less than 28 consecutive days, and this must be completed by Dec 31st, 2020. Brand new operators will still be able to register after that, but registration is mandatory before renting our your unit on a short-term basis.

According to the City, this registration system is an important first step to administering the short-term rental rules and regulations the City came up with in 2018 and 2019.
